Routine Series: Week 1 - Morning Ritual

"The Secret of your success is found in your daily routine"

Welcome everyone to the May edition of the Straight Up Mindset Blog. This month’s theme is going to be the Routine Series. This week we are going to discuss  "Morning Ritual"

Having a morning ritual is essential to getting your mind and body prepped for the daily grind. A lot of people including myself in the past would just wake up and just go. No mental prep or anything, just shower, brush my teeth and make sure my attire is suitable. Then get slammed all day and come home exhausted. I was failing to realized that I was not starting my day off in the most optimal mind frame.

You have to realize prepping your mind is just as important as your body. When you are going to workout you don't just go in cold and tight and start throwing up the heaviest weight you can. No, you warm up, stretch and if you are lifting heavy then you get mentally prepared and visualize lifting that heavy weight. Look at professional athletes, they get in a zone before the game so they can perform at the highest level.

You must have the same approach when it comes to conquering the day. You have to envision yourself overcoming every obstacle, finishing and accomplishing whatever the goal is for that day. Do what ever you need to do to get yourself in the right space. Attack the day with an intensity and a ferociousness to help ensure a daily victory. Everyone is different, so pick and choose the routine that works for you. Go workout in the mornings, pray, read a motivational book, listen to your favorite music.....etc

Build that routine and be consistent. Make sure to do that every day and watch how things start to turn around for you. If you get tired of doing the same thing mix it up a bit to keep you sharp, but just make sure you have some sort of morning ritual in place.
