Adversity Series: 30 Day Challenge

“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.”– Earl Nightingale

Welcome to the Straight Up Mindset Blog!!

You deserve BETTER!!  You can have BETTER!!  You can be BETTER!!  You just need to know, that it will take everything you got.  There are no short cuts to Success and no secret formula to make your Dreams a reality.  It's going to take an understanding that any pain or adversity is only Temporary, you can Never Quit, and you have to Stay the Course.

Week one's topic was It's Temporary.  We talked about how problems are and will be a part of our lives, but even though they are  a part of your life, don't let them consume you.  This particular week, we wanted you to understand, that Adversity is a part of life, but it is NOT life, it's merely a moment in time.  Stay Focused on what's important.

Week two we told you Quitting can not be an OPTION.  You have put in the work, endured too much pain, and sacrificed too much to quit.  We need you to keep Pushing, keep Fighting, and just Finish.  If you can find something Greater than yourself to push you, then Quitting will never be an option.

Week 3 you have to Stay The Course.  You will get Tired, you will get Frustrated, and at times you will not be able to see the finish line.  You can not allow these things to get you off track, because Life will beat you down if you let it, so I need you to Stay on Course.  Listen, if fighting back was easy, everyone would be doing it.  If you are reading this, you have what it takes to fight back.

Week 4 we talked about What is your WHY?!?!. Through your entire journey to obtain your goals your "WHY" needs to be a valid and strong one. If you are just doing it for money and attention, that will fade and you will be back to square one. Your why needs to be bigger than you, it needs to be more than just about your and what you want

This month I need you to dig a little deeper and fight a little harder.  For the next 30 days, do not take your foot off the gas.  I'm challenging you to either rewrite a goal down that you didn't quite finish last month, or write down a goal that is going to push you out of your comfort zone.  If you completed every goal you set out last month, let's build off of that, keep the momentum going and let's keep pushing to our Greatness.  I need you to ask yourself, what in my Life, can I focus on to better me and potentially take me to the next level.  There are some areas in your Life that is not where you need it to be, what goals can you put into place to challenge yourself to make those areas better.  Push yourself, that's the only way you will find out who you are or can be.  Understand, that there will be some Pain, there will be some Adversity, but It's Temporary, so Stay The Course, because Quitting is Not an Option.

Adversity Series: Week 4- What is your WHY?!?!

When The WHY Is Big Enough The HOW Is Easy

-Straight Up Mindset

Welcome to the Straight Up Mindset Blog!!

What's up Straight Up Nation! Thank you for returning to the blog. Remember this month’s theme is the Adversity Series. The first week's blog was "It's Temporarywere we touched on how whatever pain or adversity you are going through is just a moment in time. If you fight through it, a blessing is on the other side. Week 2 was "Quitting Is Not An Optionbecause you have come too far and sacrificed too much to quit now. Week 3 was"Stay The Course" because no matter how tough the road ahead is, you must never veer off the path.

This weeks title is "What is your WHY?" because your why is the fuel that keep you going when things get tough

I challenge you to ask yourself, why are you doing what you are doing?

*Are you doing it because of money?
*Are you doing it because of the material things you want to have in your possession
*Are you doing it because you want the attention?

If it is anything like the items above or close to it, tell me this: After you obtain those items then what?..... What is your fuel if you are able to possess those things? See when your why is strong it's because its not about you, it's bigger than you. See Bill Gates, Oprah, Warren Buffet, MJ didn't become great because they wanted the house, the cars and the fame. They became great and reached the top because they wanted to be the GREATEST. They had people counting on them to succeed and take them out of poverty and mediocrity. They wanted to leave a legacy behind so that their future kids can be taken care of and keep the legacy going.

Don't let material things drive you, because those things don't carry weight and are temporary. If your why does not go past the list I mentioned above, I encourage you to sit down and really think about why you are doing what you are doing. What is it that is fueling you to reach your goals and be successful. It can be your kids, your parents, you siblings....etc whatever, but really dig deep inside and figure out what that thing is that will help elevate you to the top

Adversity Series: Week 3- Stay The Course!

"IN TIMES OF DIFFICULTY THOSE BRAVE ENOUGH TO STAY THE COURSE WILL BE VICTORS IN THE END"

-COACH BO SCHEMBECHLER

Welcome to the Straight Up Mindset Blog!!

What's up Straight Up Nation! Thank you for returning to the blog. Remember this month’s theme is the Adversity Series. The first weeks blog was "Its Temporary" were we touched on how whatever pain or adversity you are going through is just a moment in time. If you fight through it, a blessing is on the other side. Week 2 was "Quitting Is Not An Option" because you have come too far and sacrificed too much to quit now.

This weeks title is"Stay The Course" because no matter how tough the road ahead is, you must never veer off the path. At times you will get tired, frustrated and feel like you are not making progress. You must not allow that to drag you down. Nobody said it was going to be easy, but like the old saying goes, "If it was easy everybody would do it".

There are going to be moments where you get beat down by life, stress from your job....etc. You have to be able to stay focused and not allow those things to take you away from your end goal. Your mindset is what is going to carry you through. Adversity is going to be your best friend because there is no way around it. "Calm Seas Never Made A Great Sailor" What that means is you are not going to reach your full potential if you continue to bow to every obstacle that is placed in your path. Stop looking for the easy path and embrace the challenges that are put in front of you because at the end of it you will come out stronger and better.

I encourage you the next time you face adversity don't back down, don't get frustrated and don't be scared. Smile and grab the bull by the horns and I promise you, you will come out victorious. Remember that you are undefeated when facing life's challenges. The simple fact that you are still here breathing, alive and still grinding is proof that you can make it through anything

Adversity Series: Week 2- Quitting Is Not An Option

Welcome to the Straight Up Mindset Blog!!

What's up Straight Up Nation! Thank you for returning to the blog, remember this month’s theme is the Adversity Series. Last weeks blog was "Its Temporary" were we touched on how whatever pain or adversity you are going through is just a moment in time. If you fight through it, a blessing is on the other side.
This week’s title is "Quitting Is Not an Option" We have all been at that point of just quitting and giving up. You have to understand that quitting is not an option. You have put in too much work, endured too much pain, sacrificed too much to quit now. You've already been through soo much, just FINISH! Keep pushing; understand that the light is right there at the end of the tunnel. As the quote above says, think about why you started. Your why has to be bigger than you, it has to be more than just about you. If it’s not then you need to reevaluate your reasoning and dig deep to find purpose.
Some people do it for their family, health, whatever it is, that reasoning needs to burn deep inside you and push you past your selfish thoughts of self-gain. Look, we are not saying it’s going to be easy, it’s never easy, we just get strong every time we are able to push through and make it to the next challenge. I have struggled with this topic, I'm going to be straight up with you, I still deal with it every day. I get to moments in my life where I just say you know what, I'm tired, I'm not motivated and I just don't want to do it anymore.
The truth is that's me thinking about me and nothing else, because at that moment I want it to be about me. Then I sit down and have a conversation with myself and ask myself, is this what you really want to do? Is this what you want people to remember you as...a quitter? Is this what you want your children to replicate? I have too many people counting on me, my wife, my kids, my mom, my dad because it’s not about me. I'm the head of my household so I need to provide and set a standard and leave a legacy for my kids. My Mom and Dad sacrificed too much for me to just quit and let all that go for nothing. My Mom and Dad didn't work 2-3 jobs to provide me with what I needed and put me through school just to say I'm tired and give up, NO!
Therefore, I challenge you to really dig deep, find that extra ounce of strength to keep pushing, keep grinding and finish what you started. Remember this thing is bigger than you and when you no longer make it about you and find a bigger purpose I promise you, you will find a surge of renewed energy overcome you and nothing will be able to stop you.

Straight UP!!
