Welcome to the Straight Up Mindset Blog!!
What's up Straight Up Nation! Thank you for
returning to the blog, remember this month’s theme is the Adversity Series.
Last weeks blog was "Its Temporary" were we touched on how whatever
pain or adversity you are going through is just a moment in time. If you fight
through it, a blessing is on the other side.
This week’s title is "Quitting Is Not an
Option" We have all been at that point of just quitting and giving up. You
have to understand that quitting is not an option. You have put in too much
work, endured too much pain, sacrificed too much to quit now. You've already
been through soo much, just FINISH! Keep pushing; understand that the light is
right there at the end of the tunnel. As the quote above says, think about why
you started. Your why has to be bigger than you, it has to be more than just
about you. If it’s not then you need to reevaluate your reasoning and dig deep
to find purpose.
Some people do it for their family, health, whatever
it is, that reasoning needs to burn deep inside you and push you past your
selfish thoughts of self-gain. Look, we are not saying it’s going to be easy, it’s
never easy, we just get strong every time we are able to push through and make
it to the next challenge. I have struggled with this topic, I'm going to be
straight up with you, I still deal with it every day. I get to moments in my
life where I just say you know what, I'm tired, I'm not motivated and I just
don't want to do it anymore.
The truth is that's me thinking about me and nothing
else, because at that moment I want it to be about me. Then I sit down and have
a conversation with myself and ask myself, is this what you really want to do?
Is this what you want people to remember you as...a quitter? Is this what you
want your children to replicate? I have too many people counting on me, my
wife, my kids, my mom, my dad because it’s not about me. I'm the head of my
household so I need to provide and set a standard and leave a legacy for my
kids. My Mom and Dad sacrificed too much for me to just quit and let all that
go for nothing. My Mom and Dad didn't work 2-3 jobs to provide me with what I
needed and put me through school just to say I'm tired and give up, NO!
Therefore, I challenge you to really dig deep, find
that extra ounce of strength to keep pushing, keep grinding and finish what you
started. Remember this thing is bigger than you and when you no longer make it
about you and find a bigger purpose I promise you, you will find a surge of
renewed energy overcome you and nothing will be able to stop you.
Straight UP!!
